Fiji added to list of MHQ countries

A number of changes have been made to the list of countries covered by mandatory hotel quarantine (MHQ) rules.

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly (pictured) has announced plans to add one additional state to the list of designated states, and remove two.

Passengers without exemptions who enter the State from Fiji will have to enter hotel quarantine from 4am on Wednesday, 18 August.

People who do not have valid proof of vaccination against, or recovery from, COVID-19, who arrive in Ireland having been in, or transited through, a country on the list of designated states in the previous 14 days must enter MHQ.

The minister has removed Indonesia and Seychelles from the list of designated states, with effect from Saturday 14 August.
