Defence lawyer receives firebomb threat

A London-based criminal defence solicitor has received threatening and abusive letters, which the Lord Chancellor David Gauke (pictured above) described as “completely unacceptable in a civilised society”.

Senior partner at Tuckers Richard Egan revealed that he received a letter with a swastika and the opening line “Remember Jo Cox? You have been followed – nice house.”

The letter continues with a threat to firebomb the firm’s offices. It has been given to the police.

Manslaughter

Media coverage has surrounded the conviction for manslaughter of Richard Egan’s client Jack Shepherd.

Charlotte Brown was killed when Shepherd’s speedboat capsized on the River Thames in London in December 2015. Shepherd turned fugitive but handed himself in to police last month.
