Mason Hayes & Curran (MHC) LLP, in collaboration with Trinity College, has developed a second online course, in response to the increased demand for specialised training in the areas of child protection and domestic violence.  

The course is aimed at helping practitioners across a range of services to understand the impact of domestic violence on children, and what action is required when there are child protection concerns.

MHC LLP is one of the firms which acts for TUSLA in child care court proceedings.

This course is a collaborative project between Trinity Online Unit, Dr Stephanie Holt (head of the School of Social Work and Social Policy at Trinity College), and Sonya Bruen (partner in the health and prosecutions team at MHC LLP).

The CPD course will follow the socio-legal model of training and will run on 4 October.

Welfare

Dr Holt will present on the impact of domestic violence on children’s overall welfare, and managing contact between parents and children where there has been domestic violence.

Sonya Bruen previously practised as a child-protection social-work practitioner, and will provide practical guidance on the key legislation, and how parental rights and children’s rights can be balanced in this complex area.
