Court of Appeal vacancy to be filled

The Government has agreed to nominate Ms Justice Teresa Pilkington for appointment to the Court of Appeal. The decision was made at a cabinet meeting yesterday (4 August).

The vacancy in the Court of Appeal arose after the retirement of Mr Justice Brian McGovern on 15 March.

King's Inns

Ms Justice Pilkington had been appointed to the High Court in July 2018.

She was formerly a member of the Property Registration Authority, a member of the Irish Financial Services Appeals Tribunal, tribunal chair of the Mental Health Commission, and a member of the Chartered Accountants Regulatory Board.

Ms Justice Pilkington was educated at UCD and King’s Inns and was called to the Bar in 1986, and the Inner Bar in 2012.
