Bruton makes fresh Ireland for Law call

Former taoiseach John Bruton (pictured) has called on the legal profession to renew its engagement with the ‘Ireland for Law’ initiative, which was set up to help promote Irish law and legal services among the international business community.

Mr Bruton, who is chair of the organisation, has written to Law Society members and other stakeholders about its work, saying that Brexit has highlighted “the strong value proposition and competitive advantage that the Irish legal system presents internationally”.

Direct engagement

He said that we were now embarking on a process of international recovery from the disruption of COVID-19 to normal legal and courts business, and urged members to keep in touch with the group’s work through social media and its website.

Mr Bruton added that he was looking forward to a more direct engagement with members of the legal profession, when the lifting of pandemic restrictions allowed for physical ‘Ireland for Law’  events in the months ahead.
