Barrister and accredited mediator Caroline Gill (pictured) has been appointed to the board of the Investor Compensation Company (ICCL) as a consumer director.

Announcing the appointment, finance minister Paschal Donohoe said Ms Gill had extensive experience of advocating on behalf of consumers.

She served as a Financial Services Ombudsman UK, and as Deputy Financial Services Ombudsman in Ireland. She was also chief executive of the Consumers’ Association of Ireland.

Ms Gill is a member of the Pyrite Resolution Board and a Governor of St Patrick’s Hospital Dublin.

The ICCL is an independent body set up under the Investor Compensation Act 1998 and is Ireland’s statutory ‘fund of last resort’ for customers of authorised investment firms.
