Apple has announced a number of changes to its App Store, in an effort to settle a legal battle with US app developers.

The proposed changes are subject to court approval, and the tech giant said that it respected the ongoing judicial review process.

The developers had accused Apple of engaging in anti-competitive conduct by only allowing the downloading of iPhone apps through the App Store.

Apple also requires developers to price their apps in tiers ending in 99 cents, and takes up to a 30% commission from developers on the sale of apps.

Epic case continues

The agreement announced last night (26 August) includes three main changes:

• Developers can share information about payment methods that are available outside their iOS app,
• An expansion of the price points developers can offer for subscriptions, in-app purchases, and paid apps,
• A new fund to help smaller US app developers.

Apple is awaiting the outcome of a separate case taken by Epic Games, the company behind the popular Fortnite game, which is suing Apple for removing the game from its App Store.
