Entry open for Oireachtas student essay
Entries are now invited for the Oireachtas essay competition / Aiste an Oireachtais.
Students are already registering online at www.oireachtasessay.ie or www.aisteanoireachtais.ie to compete for €6,000 in prizes.
Aiste an Oireachtais aims to get young people thinking about Ireland’s democratic system.
The work of the Oireachtas, the Assembly in the North, and the British Parliament needs the interest and input of young people concerned about democracy and the resolution of conflicts at home and abroad, said convenor Senator Rónán Mullen (pictured).
Shaping our lives
“It is vital that our young people are encouraged to consider their connection with the institutions that shape all our lives,” he said.
TY and senior cycle Leaving Cert students, as well as A-level students across the island are now invited to submit essays on the theme: 'Parliamentary Politics Matters for Europe'.

Participating students should register by 6 November.
