Cork to host MHC annual energy conference
Business-law firm Mason Hayes & Curran (MHC) will host its annual energy conference in Cork next week.
The event takes place at the Clayton Hotel on Wednesday 9 September.
MHC says that the conference programme will examine how policy and regulation can create workable frameworks for delivering infrastructure across electricity, gas, digital, and port networks.
Dan O’Brien (chief economist at the Institute of International and European Affairs) will deliver the keynote address, in which he will analyse geopolitical headwinds, data-centre growth, and the economic imperative of a secure energy supply.
Regulatory certainty
Eoin Cassidy (lead energy and infrastructure partner at MHC) says that capital will flow where there is regulatory certainty.
“Ireland has clear policy frameworks, but delays in planning and grid connections continue to stall investment decisions on the ground,” he adds.
Panellists at the conference will outline concrete measures that are underway to accelerate projects.
The Port of Cork Company is constructing quay walls and assembly space at Cork Harbour for offshore wind deployment, while EirGrid is deploying parallel planning processes and early procurement to speed up transmission build-out.
Legal experts from MHC will also brief attendees on recent developments in grid connection policy and planning law.
