Improved mobility access at Four Courts

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is continuing its fire safety and accessibility improvements across the Four Courts complex.

Improved access is now available at key entry points with an automatic gate installed at the Chancery Place entrance (judges' yard) for wheelchair users who have a security access card

Wheelchair-access doors

New automatic wheelchair-access doors are now operational at the West Wing entrance.

Accessibility improvements to the main entrance security hut and East Wing (Central Office) entrance are planned.

Court Six now has an automated accessible entrance operated by a pushbutton access system

All double doors along the main route between the West and East Wings have been upgraded to remain open during the day, making movement around the complex easier for users with mobility needs.

For safety reasons, these doors are linked to the fire alarm system and will close automatically if the alarm is activated.

Structural issues

Due to unforeseen structural issues identified during refurbishment works, the reopening of the ground floor male and accessible toilets has been delayed until Wednesday, 18 November.

At least one set of toilet facilities will remain available at all times.

Some periods of increased noise are expected while structural issues are addressed but noisy works will take place before 10 am.

Works are expected to continue over the four-week period beginning yesterday (19 October).
