DSBA probate webinar to focus on grief

The Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA) will hold a webinar on probate and tax next month that includes a session on dealing sensitively with bereaved clients.

The event takes place on Tuesday 3 November (12.30-2.30pm).

The first half of the webinar will look at issues arising from rights of residence and life interests granted under a will.

It will also discuss the use and enforcement of caretaker agreements in estate administration.

Professional boundaries

The second half of the seminar, entitled ‘Navigating grief in legal practice: Supporting clients and sustaining ourselves’, will explore the nature of grief and how bereavement can influence client behaviour, communication, and decision-making.

It will consider how probate solicitors can respond sensitively and effectively to bereaved clients, balancing empathy, practical legal responsibilities, and appropriate professional boundaries.

Eleanor Lindsay, a partner at Fagan Killeen LLP and member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), will chair the event.

The speakers are:

  • Tim Harnedy BL,
  • John O’Regan BL,
  • Bronagh O’Neill (head of Law Society Psychological Services), and
  • Dearbhla Jordan (strategic projects executive, Law Society Psychological Services).
