Former reporter sets up law firm

Former investigative journalist Roman Shortall has opened a legal practice in Dublin.  He is co-founder of independent Irish news platform The Ditch.

Shortall was a prize winner at the 2023 Law Society Justice Media Award (Newcomer of the Year) for uncovering systemic governance failures and unlawful decision-making at An Bord Pleanála.

Before working as a journalist, he was a legal executive specialising in administrative law.

Approach

His fifteen-year career in public law and media informs his approach to law.

Shortall Law advises individuals, businesses and non-profits affected by policies and decisions of public bodies.

The practice acts in judicial review proceedings involving national and EU law, disputes with regulators and professional bodies, and challenges to refusals of regulatory authorisations.

The firm practises at 13 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2.
