DSBA to host seminar for litigation practitioners

Retired judge Michael Peart will chair a seminar for litigation practitioners hosted by the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA) next month.

The association says that litigation practice is "increasingly unforgiving”, as procedural missteps such as missed limitation periods, defective service, or poorly grounded applications, can have immediate consequences.

It adds that the upcoming event, entitled ‘Legal First Aid: Triage in Litigation Practice’, is designed as a practical ‘first-aid kit’ for solicitors operating in the litigation area.

Speakers

It focuses on identifying risk early, taking decisive corrective action, and avoiding the common pitfalls that lead to adverse outcomes.

The in-person seminar takes place on 23 April (2-5pm) at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8. Places are strictly limited to 50.

The speakers are:

  • Martin Canny BL, who will speak on the statute of limitations,
  • Dr Susan Martin (solicitor) on bringing and defending strike-out applications, and
  • Hugh Leavy BL on ensuring correct service of proceedings.
