Two University of Galway Law students, Fahima Mohamed and Stuthi Biyani, have won scholarships as part of a scheme aimed at increasing diversity in the legal profession.
The RDJ Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships include a €5,000 bursary, along with a work placement opportunity at RDJ.
The scheme supports students from ethnic-minority backgrounds and those under-represented in the Irish legal profession.
The two 2026 winners were selected after a competitive process involving academic results and an essay on the importance of diversifying the legal profession in Ireland.
The scholarships were formally presented at the University of Galway on 13 January by Marion Meehan (senior associate, RDJ) and Professor Martin Hogg (Dean of the University of Galway School of Law).
Meehan described Fahima Mohamed and Stuthi Biyani as “two outstanding students with bright careers ahead of them”, adding that the scheme reflected the law firm’s commitment to building a workplace that reflects the diversity of its clients and communities.
“Diverse teams strengthen our firm by broadening our perspective, deepening our understanding and improving the quality of the outcomes we deliver,” she stated.
Prof Hogg said that the two winners would receive “transformative support and encouragement” to pursue legal careers.
