Matheson launches EU presidency resource hub

Matheson in Dublin has hosted a  briefing on Ireland’s upcoming EU presidency featuring Neale Richmond (Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora).

During the session (12 February),Minister Richmond outlined the critical pillars that will define Ireland's role during its six-month term, which starts on 1 July:

    • Economic competitiveness: a focus on regulatory simplification to support business growth and the advancement of an open, rules-based trade agenda,
    • Fiscal planning: steering negotiations for the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework (the union's long-term budget),
    • Security and defence: managing growing co-operation in European security amidst shifting global geopolitical challenges,
    • Multinational engagement: the minister noted that the presidency provided a unique ‘window’ for multinationals to engage directly with European policymakers while Ireland was at the centre of the EU legislative agenda.
