LILA to host high-value patent litigation seminar

The London Irish Lawyers Association (LILA) is to host a seminar on patent litigation in Ireland and the emerging practice of the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

LILA is partnering with Ireland for Law and the EU Bar Association of Ireland for their 2026 London seminar, taking place at the Embassy of Ireland on Thursday 19 March at 6pm.

Expressions of interest are now being sought.

Perspective

Chaired by Ms Justice Niamh Hyland (Court of Appeal), the discussion will bring together an in-house perspective from James Horgan (chief patent counsel, international litigation and policy) at Merck, Sharp & Dohme.

There will also be contributions from advocates Jonathan Newman SC and Bairbre O’Neill SC.

The panel will explore how Ireland is positioning itself in high-value patent disputes, what impact the UPC is having, and the practical implications for those facing infringement claims.
