Law Society Skillnet is hosting an introduction to AI for legal practitioners later this month.
The training course takes place at the Kingsley Hotel, Cork, on Thursday 19 February (9.30am to 12.30pm).
Attendance will earn three CPD hours for professional development and solicitor wellbeing (by group study).
The course is an introduction to practical AI uses, with an emphasis on professional responsibility.
It aims to provide practical, low-risk use cases that can be implemented to assist and/or augment daily tasks.
This training is aimed at solicitors across all practice areas. Attendees should bring a laptop or iPad or tablet to participate in the live examples and get the maximum benefit from the workshop.
The trainer is AI consultant Donna O’Leary, a dual-qualified solicitor in Ireland, and England and Wales, who specialises in readiness, adoption strategy, and risk management.
The course’s first session will cover core AI concepts, basic AI terminology, and types of AI tools. It will examine how AI is currently used in legal practice.
The second session will look at practical applications, and how to identify low-risk use cases within a practice.
The third and final session will discuss use cases in more detail, showcasing different prompt techniques. It will also cover professional obligations and values when using AI, as well as risk-management considerations.
