Extra workshops on practical AI use

Law Society Skillnet has announced additional introductory workshops on AI across the country, after strong demand over the past year.

Led by AI consultant Donna O'Leary, the ‘Introduction to AI for Legal Practitioners’ workshop focuses on unlocking low-risk AI applications tailored for the legal practice.

The additional sessions will be delivered regionally across Ireland this year, starting on 12 February.

Live demos

This in-person training introduces solicitors to practical AI uses while prioritising professional responsibility. Limited to 20 participants, the sessions will feature live demos – participants should bring their laptops, iPads, or tablets.

Key topics covered:

  • Session 1: Core AI concepts, terminology, tool types, limitations, and current legal applications; key considerations and initial practical uses,
  • Session 2: Expanded AI use cases, identifying low-risk applications for your practice, and
  • Session 3: Advanced prompt techniques, common mistakes, benchmark testing, professional obligations, core values, and risk management.

Learning outcomes

Participants will understand AI basics, spot appropriate use cases, apply practical tools, and navigate professional duties confidently.

Courses are delivered in Dundalk, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Donegal, Kerry, and Galway. These small-group sessions combine discussion, demonstration and hands-on learning.

There are three professional development and solicitor-wellbeing hours for this workshop (by group study).

Check the Law Society website to book and for full details on all workshops.
