Applications open for 2026 Paris programme

The Law Society’s EU and International Affairs Committee is inviting applications for the 2026 Stage International in Paris.

The programme, organised by the Paris Bar every year, invites a limited number of lawyers from each jurisdiction to participate.

The committee describes it as “a fantastic opportunity for lawyers to discover and practise French law in the heart of Paris”.

Work experience

The Stage, which takes place during October and November, involves one month attending classes at the l’Ecole de Formation du Barreau and one month of work experience at a law firm in Paris.

The programme also includes a visit to the European institutions in Brussels.

The Law Society’s EU and International Affairs selects the Irish participant. It also sponsors the participant with €3,500.

Tuition covered

Candidates must:

  • Be qualified in Ireland and registered at the Law Society,
  • Have a good knowledge of French,
  • Be under 40 years old, and
  • Have insurance cover (for accidents and damages).

While tuition is fully covered by the Paris Bar, candidates must be willing to cover other expenses, such as travel and accommodation.

Those interested are asked to send a CV and letter explaining their interest in the Stage (in both English and French) to D.Flynn@LawSociety.ie by Friday 13 March.
