Second term for Bar Council chair Guerin

Seán Guerin SC has been re-elected as chair of the Bar of Ireland Council for a second year.

The Bar’s new council takes effect from today (8 September) after elections were held in July.

Darren Lehane SC is vice-chair of the council, while Séamus Clarke SC is treasurer.

‘Evolving challenges’

The 25-strong council for the 2025/26 legal term features nine first-time members.

“As we look ahead, the council remains committed to addressing the evolving challenges facing our profession – particularly in the areas of policy, regulation, and technology,” said Guerin

“Engagement with our members and other participants in the justice system – including the judiciary, Government, Department of Justice, Courts Service, and the solicitor’s profession – will be central to our continuing efforts to ensure a justice system that is fair, effective, and fit for purpose,” he added.
