Next regulation webinar looks at cyber-security

The next lunchtime webinar in the Regulation Matters series will focus on cyber-security and banking.

The online Zoom event, organised by Law Society Professional Training, takes place on Wednesday 24 September (1pm to 2pm).

Attendance is worth one CPD hour client care and professional standards by e-learning.

Risk management

The third webinar of the 2025 series will outline recent trends in cyber-attacks and suggest approaches to help reduce the risks faced by solicitors.

Expert speakers from Bank of Ireland and the Law Society Regulation Department will address practical aspects of cyber-security and banking from a risk-management perspective.

The webinar is aimed at solicitors, legal professionals, and colleagues involved in financial-management processes in law firms.

Red flags

It will help participants to:

  • Gain knowledge of recent cyber-attacks and learn from the experience of others,
  • Appreciate best-practice tools and procedures,
  • Recognise possible red flags and potential points of exposure,
  • Benefit from practical guidance on ways to mitigate risk,
  • Assess their own practice and procedures so they can identify scope for improvement, and
  • Better manage and mitigate risk.

Rory O’Neill (financial controller, Compensation Fund, Law Society) will chair the event and will also speak.

The other speaker will be Bank of Ireland’s senior fraud analyst Grace Murphy.
