Matheson hire expands corporate M&A team

Matheson LLP has appointed Brian Butterwick as a partner in its corporate M&A (mergers and acquisitions) group.

Based in the Dublin office, Butterwick has extensive experience advising on a broad range of corporate matters – including public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, re-organisations, and equity capital-markets transactions.

He worked in London for over a decade for a leading US law firm and an elite international firm and has particular expertise in advising international and domestic clients on complex, high-value, cross-border deals.

‘Extensive international experience’

Before joining Matheson, he was a partner at another Irish law firm.

Butterwick’s appointment brings the number of partners and tax principals in Matheson to 125. The firm’s corporate M&A team now includes 17 partners.

Managing partner Michael Jackson said that Butterwick’s extensive international experience and skillset would “significantly enhance” Matheson’s corporate M&A team and strengthen its offering across both public and private company mandates.
