Barr to continue as chair of blood body

Solicitor Deirdre-Ann Barr has been re-appointed as chair of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS).

Appointed chair initially in June 2022, she will now continue in the role until 22 June 2027 after being re-appointed by Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll McNeill.

A board member at the service since March 2019, Barr previously worked as general counsel and head of risk in Matheson.

Barr holds a number of non-executive roles and is a member of the board of Coillte CGA.

She is a chartered director and a member of Chapter Zero Ireland, a community of non-executive directors that leads Irish boardroom discussions on the impact of climate change.
