‘Recap on regulation’ seminar for solicitors

Law Society Professional Training is organising a seminar on regulation and professional standards for solicitors next month. 

The event, ‘Regulation Recap 2025: from fine print to big picture’, will take place on Thursday 11 December (2-5.15pm) at the Law Society, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7. 

Attendance will earn three CPD hours for client care and professional standards (including one accounting and AML compliance). 

Expert speakers will address core areas that include: 

  • The future of regulation,
  • The Regulation of Practice Committee,
  • Solicitors’ Accounts Regulations,
  • Preparing for an inspection,
  • Planning for retirement,
  • Complaints, and
  • Cyber-security in banking.

Attendees will gain insights from, and have an opportunity to engage with, top experts and regulators. 

There will be an address from Dr Niall Connors (director of regulation - registrar of solicitors, Law Society), who will also chair the seminar.

  • Sorcha Hayes (head of practice regulation, Law Society),
  • Garry Clarke (partner, Lanigan Clarke Solicitors LLP),
  • Sean Sexton (consultant, Ken Kennedy Law),
  • Stephanie Furey (investigating accountant, regulation department, Law Society),
  • Eleanor Carmody (head of complaints and resolutions unit, LSRA), and
  • Colin Caroll (strategic project lead, solicitor services, Law Society).
