Annual criminal and public law update 2025

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) has announced the Annual Criminal and Public Law Update 2025, which will take place on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at the Law Society.

The conference will run from 9am to 12.30pm and attendance will yield three CPD points.

This year’s event will be chaired by Mr Justice Gerard Hogan of the Supreme Court, one of Ireland’s leading jurists and an authoritative voice in constitutional and public law.

The programme brings together nine distinguished practitioners including:

  • Michael O’Higgins SC,
  • Kathleen Leader SC,
  • Bernard Condon SC,
  • Fiona Murphy SC,
  • Eoghan Cole SC,
  • Patrick Gageby SC,
  • Ronan Kennedy SC,
  • Cathleen Noctor SC, and
  • Conor Devally SC.

Fixture

A long-established fixture in the legal calendar, the update equips solicitors and barristers with essential insight into fast-evolving areas of practice.

Beyond its educational value, the event plays a crucial role in supporting IRLI’s mission to promote fair, effective, and accountable justice systems internationally.

Proceeds from the conference directly support IRLI’s work, including:

  • Enhancing access to justice in Malawi,
  • Supporting survivor-centred justice in Tanzania,
  • Advancing anti-corruption initiatives in Zambia,
  • Building capacity among legal professionals and institutions,
  • Protecting vulnerable communities and upholding human rights.

Registration is now open.
