Practice update for solicitors in north-west

Law Society Skillnet is organising a practice update for solicitors in the north-west on Thursday 29 May (10am to 5.30pm).

The event takes place at Lough Eske Castle Hotel, Lough Eske, Co Donegal.

Attendance will yield two general CPD hours, as well as 2.5 for professional development and solicitor wellbeing and 1.5 for client care and professional standards.

The latest in a series of cluster events presents an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

The aim is to offer practitioners an update in relevant areas from experienced practitioners and expert speakers.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and a drinks reception.

Topics and speakers

The topics to be discussed include:

• AML (anti-money-laundering): a practical application,
• Cyber-crime: the war stories,
• Services for solicitors: practice support, career support, and information services,
• How to prepare for an audit,
• Adverse possession: tips on how to submit better applications to the Land Registry,
• Employment law,
• How to be more resilient, and
• Probate updates.

Geraldine Conaghan (principal, MacBride Conaghan Solicitors and President of Inishowen Bar Association) and Kevin McElhinney (partner, VP McMullin LLP and secretary of the Donegal Bar Association) will chair the event.
