May date for Leitrim solicitors’ cluster event

The second event in Law Society Skillnet’s regional CPD cluster programme for 2025 will take place in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim on Thursday 15 May.

The update will take place at the Landmark Hotel, Dublin Road, Carrick-on-Shannon (10am to 5.30pm).

It is being organised in collaboration with Leitrim Bar Association, Longford Bar Association, Roscommon Bar Association, and Sligo Solicitors’ Bar Association.

Networking opportunity

Attendance will yield four general CPD hours, one for professional development and solicitor wellbeing, and one for client care and professional standards.

The conference will provide an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and an evening drinks reception.

Topics and speakers

Topics include:

  • Cyber-crime: insights into identifying and preventing fraud),
  • Recent developments in conveyancing 2025,
  • Tailte Éireann,
  • How to respond and not react,
  • Family law – including pensions and the new District Court proposals,
  • Assisted decision-making update, and
  • Meetings, alternatives to meetings, and the role of a chair.

The chair and speakers include:

  • Peter Collins (President, Leitrim Bar Association, chair),
  • Paul Egan SC (Mason Hayes & Curran LLP and member of the Law Society Council),
  • Emily Gough (Bank of Ireland fraud customer experience and communications),
  • Áine Hynes SC (partner, St John Solicitors, chair of Mental Health and Capacity Task Force, and member of Law Society Litigation Committee),
  • Deborah Leonard (solicitor secretary to Law Society Conveyancing Committee),
  • Caroline McLoughlin (President, Sligo Solicitors’ Bar Association),
  • Margaret Mulpeter (solicitor and relationship mentor),
  • Frank Wall (examiner of titles, Tailte Éireann), and
  • Keith Walsh SC (principal, Keith Walsh Solicitors LLP, mediator and collaborative lawyer, and member of Law Society Family and Child Law Committee; small picture).

The cluster programme begins a week earlier with the Midlands General Practice Update on 8 May.
