Matheson LLP corporate partner Darren Maher is to succeed Michael Jackson as the firm’s managing partner at the end of this year.
The firm announced today (23 June) that its partners had unanimously elected Maher to take over from Jackson on 1 January 2026.
Maher has headed Matheson’s financial-institutions group since 2017 and has been co-head of its corporate department since 2023.
He joined Matheson in 2003, having completed his law degree at UCD, and has worked with the firm since.
Congratulating his successor, Jackson said that Maher had shown a commitment to the firm’s values and an ability to build and engage multi-disciplinary teams.
“He has a deep knowledge of our clients and the international markets in which they operate, a deep understanding of the Irish and global regulatory environment, and is an internationally renowned and respected lawyer,” Jackson added.
Maher paid tribute to Jackson, who has been managing partner since 2016, saying that he had made “an enormous contribution” to the firm.
