District Court change reminder for practitioners

The Courts Service has reminded practitioners that new District Court family-law forms will go live from 3 June.

From that date, old application forms will not be accepted.

There are new forms for:

  • Domestic violence,
  • Maintenance (application to recover arrears of maintenance and vary/discharge maintenance), and
  • Arrangements for children (guardianship, custody, and access).

The key changes to the process for applicants and legal practitioners are:

  • All applicants and practitioners will need to complete the new application form and file it with the court office,
  • Courts Service will complete the summons or notice of application in all instances, and
  • Courts Service controls the assignment of court dates in all instances.

The new application forms are interactive PDFs that can be filled in on a computer or mobile device before printing or printed as a blank form and filled in by hand.

Forms will be available to downloaded on courts.ie.
