Death of former Tipperary State Solicitor

Former State Solicitor Patrick F Treacy of Nenagh, Co Tipperary, has died aged 93.

He died surrounded by his family at his Pearse Street home in the town (May 28) and his funeral Mass took place at St Mary of the Rosary Church last Saturday, followed by burial in Tyone cemetery.

Warm tributes were paid to both Pat Treacy’s prowess as a solicitor, as well as his courtesy and collegiality, and his generosity to numerous charities.

Pat had recently written a knowledgeable account of manorial courts for the Law Society Gazette.

Courteous and kind

Fr Michael Reddan told the Nenagh Guardian that Pat was “a man of principle based on solid Christian values, at all times courteous and kind. Pat had great interest in my missionary work in Paraguay and after a chat with Pat, you always felt the better for having met him.”

Nenagh Golf Club captains John Sheridan and Janet Hanly, praised  the “immeasurable contribution” he made to the club, serving as captain, president and trustee, as well as trusted advisor.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen and his sisters Agnes and Una – who died as children – his brothers Milo and Noel, and his sister Rita, Pat is mourned by his children  Marion, Eileen, Rita, Tim and Patrick and their spouses, and his 14 grandchildren.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
