Law Society lunchtime leadership series is back
The Law Society 2025 Lunchtime Leadership Series will be held on Wednesday 23 July from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
This year’s series opens with a timely discussion on the challenges and opportunities presented by rising geopolitical uncertainty.
Speakers
- Tom Wright (senior fellow, Brookings Institution, Washington DC) is a former Special Assistant to US President Joe Biden and Senior Director for Strategic Planning at the National Security Council. He has written extensively for The Atlantic and is the author of several books on global affairs,
- Jackie King (executive director Ibec Global) is an expert on international trade and business strategy and will share insights on how Irish businesses can navigate uncertainty and seize new opportunities.
Wright has written extensively on how the international order should be rebuilt after Trump’s second term.
Foreign policy
“It almost certainly cannot just be a restoration, so what comes next?” he has asked.
“I think we still have a lot to do to integrate economics into mainstream foreign-policy thinking,” he said at the Brookings Institute.
“Remember that, regardless of party, we’re all trying to deal with the same set of international issues, and there are people acting in good faith on both sides. Be willing to change your mind as more facts come to light,” he said.
The session will be hosted by Law Society director general Mark Garrett.
