Law Society trainee solicitors Meadhbh Jones (A&L Goodbody) and Noor Choudhry (Maples) secured an impressive third-place finish for Ireland at the prestigious International Negotiation Competition (INC) 2025, held in London from 7–11 July.
Hosted this year by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), the INC is a law-student competition in which a team of two law students representing a party/client negotiates either an international transaction or the resolution of an international dispute with an opposing team of two law students.
Participants have already proven their skill at national level – Meadhbh and Noor qualified for the international stage after winning the Irish National Negotiation Competition in February.
Over the course of four intense rounds, the Irish team displayed a consistent blend of strategic thinking, legal expertise, and collaborative problem-solving.
Each round challenged participants with complex, simulated negotiation scenarios based around the establishment of a new low-cost airline.
The team’s preparation and performance were guided by PPC course manager and coach John Lunney.
Speaking after the results were announced, Lunney said: “Meadhbh and Noor represented the Law Society and Ireland with great professionalism and distinction. They were outstanding winners of the national competition and their result in London was a reflection of their hard work, talent, and commitment to excellence.”
In a superb performance by local teams, the winning team were from Institute of Professional Legal Studies in Belfast with the team from the USA splitting both Irish teams on the podium.
