IBA launches survey on AI’s legal impact

A working group set up by the International Bar Association (IBA) on AI has launched the second phase of a survey on the technology for legal practitioners.

The survey is aimed at gathering insights from lawyers about how AI is transforming the legal sector.

The results will feed into the working group’s development of strategies to address the opportunities and challenges presented by the rapidly evolving technology.

The IBA says that the survey takes less than ten minutes to complete, and that all responses will remain anonymous, confidential, and securely stored.

The questionnaire has been designed to collect diverse perspectives and is segmented to reflect different roles within the legal sector.

The deadline for participating is 12 September.

Insights

Sönke Lund (chair of the working group) said: “By completing the survey, participants' will greatly advance our knowledge and help frame how AI is driving legal professions worldwide.

“The insights gathered will guide policies that ensure lawyers and the legal community use AI responsibly and ethically,” she added.

The second phase of the AI project follows a 2024 report on AI and the legal profession.
