The Central Bank has appointed Karen O’Leary as its director of currency, workplace and regulatory services.
O’Leary will take up her role in March.
In the job, O’Leary will be a member of the Central Bank’s senior leadership team and will be responsible for overseeing the provision of essential regulatory services, ensuring delivery of currency services.
She will also help to steer the cash centre strategy, including the development and delivery of a new cash centre, a critical piece of State infrastructure.
O’Leary joined the Central Bank of Ireland in 2002 and was later seconded as chief executive at the National Consumer Agency.
She served subsequently as commission member for the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) returning to the Central Bank in 2017.
She has degree and post-graduate qualifications in marketing and EU competition law.
Governor Gabriel Makhlouf said: “This appointment is testament to the strength of our existing leadership team in the bank.”
