Multi-national law firm Pinsent Masons has reported increases in revenue and profits for its financial year to the end of April.
Revenue across the firm increased by 7.2% compared with the previous year to €809.6 million, while profit per equity partner reached €949,000 – an increase of almost 3%.
During the year, Pinsent Masons in Ireland promoted Dorian Rees (corporate) and Karen Gallagher (IP) to partner and Sarah Hope (corporate) to legal director, bringing the number of partners and legal directors in the Irish office to 16.
It also added ten associate lawyers across its teams in Dublin.
Ann Lalor (head of Pinsent Masons Ireland LLP, small picture) said that the new lawyers had helped it to meet demand in the Irish market.
She said that there has been “a noticeable increase” in international M&A (merger and acquisition) and private-equity transactions in Ireland.
“Our sectoral and multi-disciplinary expertise has enabled us to advise clients on complex strategic deals across a range of sectors,” she added.
Among the deals the Irish office was involved in was advising Pinergy on its sale to Tokyo-based Sojitz Corporation and DCC on its new ‘Solar as a Service’.
Pinsent Masons also advised Azets Ireland on its merger with Cooney Carey, combining two of Ireland’s leading accountancy, tax, and business advisory firms, while it also advised the founders of county Mayo-based technology company Skillko on its sale to US buyer HIS.
Lalor said that the firm had also increased its engagement in pro bono work in Ireland, providing legal expertise to charities Operation Childlife and Cancer Fund for Children, as well the Dublin International Piano Competition.
