Law Society workshop on presentational skills

Law Society Skillnet is holding an afternoon workshop on presentational skills next month.

The event takes place on Tuesday 9 September (2pm to 5pm) in the dining room, Law Society, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7.

Three CPD hours for professional development and solicitor wellbeing (by group study) are available.

The workshop aims to equip legal professionals with the tools to confidently deliver an effective presentation – at a meeting, with colleagues, with their team, or with clients.

‘Essential’

Research indicates that most people dread giving presentations, Law Society Skillnet says, adding that the ability to deliver clear, confident, and persuasive presentations is essential in the legal profession.

The topics covered include:

  • What makes a great presentation?
  • Structuring a presentation,
  • Essential delivery skills,
  • Managing nerves,
  • Handling an audience,
  • Tips for pitching ideas in meetings and handling tricky situations, and
  • Reflection and action planning.

The trainer Naoise Blake, who founded Naoise Blake Training & Development in 2000, specialises in learning, leadership, and communications.

She has over 25 years’ experience as a facilitator, trainer, people manager, coach, mentor, learning and development manager, business manager, and consultant.
