Flynn O’Driscoll backs Maynooth scholarship

The School of Law and Criminology at Maynooth University has teamed up with corporate-law firm Flynn O’Driscoll LLP to create a new scholarship programme.

The Flynn O’Driscoll Scholarship in Law and Criminology is designed to support high-achieving final-year undergraduate students in the School of Law and Criminology by offering a combination of financial support, professional experience, and mentorship.

Professor Fergus Ryan (head of the School of Law and Criminology) described the partnership as an “important initiative” to support final-year students.

‘Significant opportunity’

“This scholarship represents a significant opportunity for our students to gain both financial assistance and a direct pathway into professional legal practice,” he added.

Starting in the 2025/26 academic year, the scholarship will be awarded to a third- or fourth-year LLB or BCL student who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance, motivation, and a strong interest in law.

The scholarship package includes:

  • A €2,000 scholarship,
  • A one-month paid internship with Flynn O’Driscoll during summer 2026, after which the student can apply for Flynn O’Driscoll’s graduate-trainee programme, and
  • A comprehensive mentorship programme provided jointly by Flynn O’Driscoll and Maynooth University.

Applications for the scholarship are now open.
