The Council of Europe (CoE) is to hold a conference in October focusing on the protection of health as a human right.
The 2025 Conference on the Protection of Health will take place in Strasbourg on 15 October.
The CoE says that health is not merely a matter of public policy, but of human rights, adding that health protection is “at the core of its mandate”.
“As social inequalities, environmental degradation, demographic shifts, and global crises such as pandemics and conflicts threaten the stability of healthcare systems, it becomes imperative for member states to act with solidarity and determination and at every level of governance from local to international,” the human-rights organisation states.
Irish lawyer Aoife Nolan (President of the European Committee of Social Rights) will deliver a keynote address at the event.
There will be discussions on the council’s role in the international health landscape, accessibility and equality, and the quality and safety of medical products and healthcare.
Those wishing to attend the conference or follow it remotely must complete a registration form by 31 August.
