Arthur Cox was the legal adviser involved in the most mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the Irish market in the first half of 2025, according to business-research company Experian MarketIQ.
Its report for the period shows that Arthur Cox was involved in 29 deals, followed by A&L Goodbody (26) and Regan Wall (26).
Flynn O’Driscoll (25) and Matheson (20) were next in the rankings.
Grant Thornton was the leading financial adviser, with involvement in 18 Irish M&A deals.
Overall, the research firm said that the 332 transactions it recorded in the six-month period represented a 15% fall compared with the same period last year.
The total value of deals, however, rose by 27% to €28.7 billion.
Experian MarketIQ said that high-value transactions gained momentum, with eight deals topping €1 billion in value – up from just two in the same period last year.
The SME segment saw a slowdown, with smaller deals down 34% and mid-market activity falling 41%.
“The majority of deals were driven by domestic activity, but Ireland continued to attract strong international interest, particularly from UK and US acquirers,” the research firm said.
