Housing supply sees modest growth in Q1

New dwelling completions in Ireland rose by 2% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 compared with the same period last year, with 5,938 homes built, according to the latest CSO data.

Apartment completions surged by 13.4%, reaching 1,781 units.

However, larger developments saw a slight dip of 1.7%, while single-dwelling completions fell by 3.5%.

Regional variations

Six of Ireland’s eight regions saw increases, with the West leading the way with a 5.8% rise in completions.

Howth-Malahide recorded the highest number of completions, with 386 new homes built in the first quarter.

Seasonally adjusted completion figures also showed a 2.3% increase from Q4 2024 to Q1 2025.
