Four new partners at Eversheds Sutherland

Eversheds Sutherland LLP has appointed four new partners as part of its latest round of promotions in its Dublin and Belfast offices. 

The promotions, with effect from 1 April, also include the promotions of three lawyers to ‘of counsel’, seven associates to senior associates, and six solicitors to associates. 

The new partners are: 

  • Aonghus McClafferty (dispute resolution and litigation),
  • Corrina Cassidy (real estate),
  • Chelsey O’Doherty (construction and projects), and
  • Nuala Maguire (construction and projects). 

Property and energy expertise 

McClafferty specialises in commercial litigation, particularly in large-scale property disputes. His expertise covers shareholder and contractual disputes, landlord-tenant issues, and public-procurement judicial-review proceedings. 

Cassidy specialises in distressed property sales and all aspects of commercial-property law and plays a key role in supporting the property elements of corporate and banking transactions. 

O’Doherty focuses on energy and infrastructure projects, with expertise in the development, construction, and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) in the renewable-energy, digital-infrastructure, and transport sectors. 

Maguire brings significant experience advising both public- and private-sector clients on a wide range of legal and contractual matters within construction and procurement law. 

Moves to ‘strengthen expertise’ 

The new ‘of counsel’ are: 

  • Aoife Uí Mhaoilmhichíl (real estate),
  • Liam Boyle (company secretarial), and
  • Sophie Dudley (corporate). 

The new senior associates are:

  • Alison McSherry (real estate),
  • Amritha Kumar (corporate),
  • Daniel Jackson (IP, technology and data protection),
  • Pamela Brennan (tax),
  • Philip Reynor (dispute resolution and litigation),
  • Thomas Costello (dispute resolution and litigation), and
  • Vanessa Lawlor (corporate). 

The solicitors promoted to become associates are: 

  • Ciaran Murdock, (dispute resolution and litigation),
  • Daire O’Herlihy (dispute resolution and litigation),
  • Eoghan Flynn (dispute resolution and litigation),
  • Gillian Blanche (real estate),
  • Sarah McKaigue (real estate), and
  • Sean Canavan (real estate). 

Eversheds Sutherland managing partner Alan Connell said that the promotions would strengthen the firm’s expertise across all practice areas.
