The Law Society’s annual human-rights lecture will be broadcast on Wednesday 11 September at 6pm via Zoom.
This year’s lecture will be delivered by Professor Fionnula Ní Aoláin (pictured) and will focus on human rights and international armed conflict.
Professor Fionnula Ní Aoláin is Regents Professor and Robina Professor of Law, Public Policy and Society at the University of Minnesota Law School and Professor of Law at the Queens University in Belfast.
She is a fellow of the Royal Irish Academy and has published extensively in the fields of emergency powers, counter-terrorism and human rights, conflict regulation, transitional justice, and sex-based violence in times of war.
Her book Law in Times of Crisis won the American Society of International Law’s Certificate of Merit in 2007.
The lecture will be chaired by Gary Lee, senior solicitor at the Office of the General Solicitor for Minors and Wards of Court.
