The agenda has been finalised for this week’s Law Society Environmental and Planning Law Committee conference which will take place this Thursday, 21 November in the Law Society.
The two main themes of Thursday’s conference are the new Planning and Development Act 2024 which was signed on 17 October, 2024, and a panel discussion on the Planning and Environment Court.
Mr Justice Richard Humphreys, who oversees the planning court, will give the keynote address on ‘Reflections on access to justice in planning and environmental law’.
Paul Hogan from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage will give an introduction to the new act.
Other speakers will address:
Oonagh Buckley (Secretary General of the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications) will be speaking on climate action and renewable energy.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on the Planning and Environment Court that includes Environmental and Planning Law committee member Danielle Conaghan of Arthur Cox.
