Free Diploma Centre MOOC on ESG starts in June

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) is the theme for the Law Society Diploma Centre’s 2024 Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), which starts on Tuesday 11 June.

MOOCs are free online courses open to everyone as part of the Law Society’s public legal-education initiative.

The courses feature online recorded presentations, together with interactive discussion forums and quizzes that allow participants to engage directly with expert presenters.

This year’s MOOC provides participants with a comprehensive guide to the evolving legal landscape of ESG, a detailed examination of ESG reporting obligations, together with an overview of common sustainability principles and frameworks, and a focused view of the impact on various sectors and industries.

ESG strategies

Among the key topics the MOOC will cover are:

  • The current legal landscape of ESG,
  • Developing an ESG strategy for your firm or business,
  • ESG reporting obligations,
  • Bio-diversity and eco-systems,
  • Climate change and decarbonisation,
  • Diversity and inclusion, and
  • ESG corporate governance issues.

The online course will appeal to applicants from a range of industries and sectors, and is free to join.

Speakers include lawyers, academics, and industry professionals.
The course runs over a five-week period, starting on 11 June, with content delivered online and available to view on demand.

There are seven CPD points available for completing this MOOC.
