September date for Kerry solicitors’ event

Law Society Skillnet and Kerry Law Society are holding a practice update for solicitors in the area on Wednesday 11 September.

The event is aimed providing an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

The update takes place at the Ballygarry House Hotel, Tralee, Co Kerry from 10am to 5.30pm. Six CPD hours, by group learning, are available from the update.

There will also be an opportunity to network with colleagues over lunch and an evening drinks reception.

Topics and speakers

Topics to be covered will include:

• Probate update 2024,
• Conveyancing and tax: a guide and update,
• How to communicate with difficult people: developing workplace communication skills,
• What we can do for you: a guide to Law Society services and how they can assist practitioners,
• Litigation: Circuit Court, applications, and updates.

John Galvin (President, Kerry Law Society) will chair the event.

Speakers will include:

• Margaret Mulpeter (solicitor and relationship mentor)
• Teri Kelly (director of representation and member services, Law Society),
• Michelle McLoughlin (principal, M McLoughlin & Company Solicitors),
• Hilda-Clare O’Shea (solicitor, St John Solicitors), and
• Padraic Courtney (solicitor, course manager and secretary to the Law Society’s Probate and Trusts Committee).

The event is the first of several cluster events taking place this autumn:

• Thursday 24 October – Connaught Solicitors’ Symposium,
• Thursday 14 November – Practitioner Update Cork,
• Thursday 21 November – General Practice Update Kilkenny,
• Wednesday 4 December – Practice and Regulation Symposium.
