Plan to buy Donegal newspaper faces probe
The competition watchdog is to carry out a full investigation into a proposed deal in the media sector.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) said that it would examine the plan by Formpress Publishing to buy D&D Media.
D&D Media owns the Inishowen Independent newspaper in Donegal and its website inishowenindo.ie.
Formpress Publishing owns and operates a number of local and regional newspaper titles across Ireland. It is part of a UK-based holding company called Media Concierge (Holdings) Limited.
The proposed transaction was notified to the CCPC in April 2024.
