Symposium on Ukraine war crime accountability

The Embassy of Ukraine, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for International and European Affairs (IIEA) will jointly host a symposium entitled ‘Ensuring Accountability and Justice for International Crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine’, on Wednesday, 13 September at IIEA.

This will take place at 8 North Great George's Street, Dublin 1.

The symposium will consist of two panels and will hear from 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights lawyer Oleksandra Matviychuk among others.

Exhibition

A photo exhibition on war crimes committed in Ukraine will also be on display.

The symposium will hear the views of senior diplomats from Ukraine and Ireland, academics, and practitioners including from the field of international criminal law and accountability.

Among the speakers are:

  • Michael Clausen (Deputy Chief of Mission, US Mission Ireland),
  • Larysa Gerasko (Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland),
  • Sonja Hyland (Deputy Secretary General and Political Director, Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland), and
  • Alex White (Director General, Institute for International and European Affairs/IIEA),
