Barry Cahir concludes INSOL presidency

Beauchamps’ Barry Cahir, who is outgoing president of INSOL Europe, opened the body’s 42nd annual congress which was held in Amsterdam from 12-15 October.

Cahir is partner and head of corporate restructuring  and insolvency at Beauchamps in Dublin and has concluded a successful stint steering INSOL forward.

INSOL Europe is the European organisation of professionals who specialise in insolvency, bankruptcy and business reconstruction and recovery.

A record-breaking turnout of 470 delegates from 37 countries attended the sold-out congress in Holland.

INSOL Europe now has a record memberships of 1,364, with a surge in young members.

This year's congress theme was navigating insolvency with trust and integrity and an informative technical programme was put together by industry experts.

Rembrandt's bankruptcy

The keynote speech by Bob Wessels was on Rembrandt's bankruptcy.

Barry Cahir set out the achievements of his presidential term, from delivering several new cooperation agreements with national associations to gaining INSOL recognition at UNICITRAL (United Nations Commission On International Trade Law).

An expanding membership base also saw increased sponsorship support for the organisation.

At conference end, Barry Cahir passed the torch to Giorgio Corno as new president of INSOL Europe.
