Re-apply now to remain on England-and-Wales roll

Any solicitors who are on the England-and-Wales roll, but not practising, should re-apply and pay the appropriate fee by 28 May.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has now re-introduced the requirement for all solicitors without a practising certificate to apply to remain on the roll each year.

This is due to changes in the law on how personal data is handled and kept up to date. 

Any solicitor who wishes to remain on the roll should apply and pay the fee before the deadline.  

Deadline

If the deadline passes without re-application, solicitors will be removed from the roll when the window closes.

To remain on the roll: 

  • Log in to MySRA,
  • Go to ‘Start a new application’,
  • Select ‘Apply to remain on the roll’,
  • Complete the application – certain work or personal information may need to be updated,
  • Submit the application,
  • Pay the £20 application fee.
