Solicitor Orla Crowe has been appointed to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as director of fitness to practise.
Crowe is a solicitor of 11 years’ standing and specialised in child protection, working in the health and social-care department of ByrneWallace.
Previously, Crowe worked as a criminal-defence solicitor and as a human-rights lawyer in Kosovo and Malawi.
The NMBI said: “Orla has always had an interest in the professions of nursing and midwifery, as her mother is a registered nurse who continues to practise in Mayo.
“She looks forward to working to protect the integrity of the professions by considering and investigating complaints about a registered nurse or midwife’s fitness to practise.”
